If you want a website, you need hosting. Our shared hosting plan is the simplest hosting option, and is well suited to a number of uses for your organization, collective, business or personnal project. It gives you access to a web interface in which you can install your websites, manage your email accounts, and much more.

This shared hosting is compatible with content management systems and web applications such as Wordpress, Drupal, Spip, MediaWiki, NextCloud*, and more. You can reach out to us about the compatibility of specific applications, but anything that runs on PHP and MySQL should normally be compatible with this type of hosting (more info). You can choose to install these yourself, or to hire us to install them for you.
The shared hosting plan allows you to install up to 100 domain names (which must be purchased separately from a domain name registrar). Hosting multiple websites doesn't cost you more!
It allows you to choose the PHP version for each site or app and includes an SSL certificate for every domain or subdomain (upon request). It also includes email addresses, mailing lists, FTP accounts, and access to PHPMyAdmin for database management. You also get access to Matomo, an open source analytics software.
However, if the software you wish to host requires command line access, a different programming language, or a large amount of ressources, shared hosting is not adapted. You will need a VPS.
* NextCloud works well on shared hosting for small organizations (up to 10 users). For larger orgs, we recommand hosting NextCloud on a VPS.

Caching service (with Varnish)
Our high-performance caching service can greatly improve the speed and performance of a website that is slow due to its complexity or generates a lot of traffic. This service can be added to the shared hosting plan, the Drupal plan, or to a website hosted on a VPS. We offer SolR cores (3.6 or 6.x) for powering advanced searches on your sites. This is useful for complex websites that need search functions more powerful and more precise than the default search in a CMS like WordPress or Drupal. Learn more about SolR.

Collabora Online
Collabora is a free-licensed office suite that allows for simultaneous collaboration on the same document. It supports a variety of formats (text editing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.), facilitating the degooglization and the emancipation of web giants who steal and store your personal data. With Collabora, we continue our mission to empower you to take control on your technological tools!
This service is meant to be combined with a NextCloud installation, either on a VPS or on shared hosting. It is necessary to activate NextCloud's collaborative edition feature.

Backups
We keep backups of everything on our shared hosting servers (databases, files, emails). However, a fee of 99$ will be applied if you need us to restore a backup for you. We keep daily backups for five days, and weekly backups for 6 months in a second location (in case of major issue). Please notify is quickly if you need a backup restored! Note that restoring a backup older than 5 days is more complex and therefore more expensive.
For the sake of your autonomy, we recommand also configuring your own website's backups, for example with a WordPress plugin.
Policy on exceeding quotas
Koumbit is proud to offer hosting packages that are flexible and unmetered in terms of disc space and bandwidth (soft quotas).
Allowed disk space includes all your data. It is always possible to upgrade your plan. You can check your disk quota in the AlternC panel.
If a client surpasses one of the quotas for three (3) consecutive months during the same yearly billing period, their account will be automatically renewed at the rate of a larger package. This will take place at the time of the renewal of the hosting package (for example, Package B will be billed if the client exceeded the quotas for Package A).
* Quotas on disc space and bandwidth are umetered but are subject to the physical limitations of our network and servers. In the case of excessive use of resources or abuse by an account which might impact services for other users or Koumbit's network, the account will be immediately suspended and services could be terminated without further notice.
