Drupal Security Update
Koumbit has done the updates related to today's security warning coming from the security team at Drupal.
Drupal core - Highly critical - Remote Code Execution - SA-CORE-2019-003
Upcoming change to the host keys for git.koumbit.net and redmine.koumbit.net
We will be changing which host key types the server redmine.koumbit.net (aka. git.koumbit.net) shows to users connecting via SSH. Starting Monday Feburary 18th 2019 only RSA and ED25519 host keys will be shown. If you had previously connected via SSH and accepted a DSA or ECDSA key, you will need to remove those fingerprints from your known hosts file and accept the RSA/ED25519 host key fingerprint.
Here is an example of how to remove the fingerprints via command-line:

Celebrate with us our first year anniversary in the office at 1883 Amherst street! The event will be held on Thursday November 29th from 6PM until metro lines close. You will also have the chance to see our new banner that has just been installed.
Koumbit will offer some snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. We also invite you to bring alcoholic drinks if you'd like to drink them and maybe share them. RSVP to info@koumbit.org would be appreciated but it is not mandatory.

HTMlles Festival 2018
HTMlles, the biennal media arts and digital culture festival put together by our colleagues at Studio XX begins in a few weeks, starting November 1st! The 2018 edition includes a variety of activities and events throughout Montreal, including the "Code : Corps" digital art exhibition at articule, an artist-run centre, and the "Encrypt your nudes!" workshop at La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse.
Impending release of Gutenberg, the new WordPress editor
If you use WordPress and have recently updated to version 4.9.8, you most likely noticed an announcement on the main page of the Dashboard in regard to the upcoming launch of Gutenberg, the new content editor that will manage the appearance of posts and pages. With its block-based system, Gutenberg aims to make the creation of complex layouts simple and intuitive. You can take a look at this new system on the official WordPress website. Gutenberg, the new WordPress editor, is coming out very soon! To help prepare WordPress users for this significant change, Koumbit is offering a (free!) hands-on workshop where participants can familiarize themselves with this system. Bring your laptop to Koumbit's offices at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, and a member of the collective will walk you through the process to install the editor and experiment with its features.
