PHP 7.3 has reached the end of its life many years ago (december 2020). The last security updates have been done in december 2021.
We understand that switching from PHP 7.3 to a more recent version can require work, this is why we have given you the option of continuing to use it until now. But now we must stop maintaining this version, for security reasons.
We will close php 7.3 support on February 1st 2027. After this date, any website still using php 7.3 will be switched to php 8.4 (with the option of downgrading to php 8.1 if needed).
In most cases, the upgrade will go smoothly. Just ask us to do it! But there may be specific problems to solve for your website to be compatible. If that is the case, we can go back and discuss options. If you do not know which php version your site(s) use, don't be afraid to ask us to check!
Please also note that if you have websites in php8.1, we also strongly recommend upgrading them to 8.4. Php8.1 is also no longer receiving security updates. We are not closing it yet, but will eventually come to it, so it's best to make the change as soon as possible. The update will improve the security and performance of your website.
We plan to make php8.5 available in the fall, but we recommend that you do not wait for this before upgrading! You can easily switch from 8.4 to 8.5 then.
