Funambules Médias is a work cooperative founded in Montreal in 2008 by documentary filmmakers. Active in video production, training and distribution of documentary films, we work for the advent of a fair and inclusive society by promoting the expression of citizen voice and the development of critical thinking.

Starting in 2010, the great adventure of the Cinéma sous les étoiles begins. From its modest beginnings in Laurier Park, the event quickly took off to become a true festival of social and political documentary films. Funambules Médias' Cinéma sous les étoiles is now a pioneer in outdoor screenings and one of the largest events of its kind.

The organisation's needs:

• A sustainable data structure that allows the organisation to gather and centralize its online content.
• A system that can fetch content generated in an external platform (via an API) and display it with a dynamic search/filtering tool.
• Creating a website that reflects the new visual identity and the structure/navigation overhaul process done by Funambules Médias.

Our proposal:

• Set up a WordPress network (multi-site) for the organisation's multiple projects.
• Create a custom WordPress theme to implement the new visual identity and web design, with custom colour schemes for the different sites across the network and reusable blocks to make it easier to create pages.
• Create a custom data structure (content types, taxonomies, custom data fields) and a script to import data provided by an external API and insert them into that structure.
• Use the data structure to generate dynamic film lists, with realtime filtering tools (by location, theme, country, etc.).
• Implement a configuration/customization framework that allows the organisation to identify films from the latest edition of its event and those that were shown in previous editions.
