jNavigue
jNavigue is a series of applications integrated to the Sugar graphical user interface, and running under the Ubuntu Linux operating system. (Sugar is the GUI that was developed for the One Laptop Per Child/OLPC program; and Ubuntu is a very popular Linux distribution.)
All programming was done in Python.
The jNavigue installation pack comes as a USB key, distributed to school and educational centers technicians, under a free and open source license.
jNavigue users are either children, or illiterate adults in need of better skills.
The client is a non-profit organization located in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of the province of Quebec. The project was made possible by a grant of Federal, Provincial and territorial Actions in Support of Literacy.
More information is available in the jNavigue wiki (in French, see link below.)
