RCABM website & volunteer work management system
The various programming, configuration, training and integration tasks completed for RCABM (a volunteer network located in the Montérégie region, province of Quebec) represent one of the most significant and important mandates undertaken in the young history of Koumbit.
The first phase of this mandate, completed in 2006-2007, consisted in replacing a client-based MS Access application with a Drupal-based solution for use in managing their activities and generating their annual reports. This was done with the help of a multi-site Drupal installation and the configuration of the CiviCRM plug-in. The second phase, started in 2008, consisted in maintaining, upgrading and improving the management interface.
As of Drupal, Koumbit first created the network's main website, then devised a script that allows the easy cloning of its member organizations' websites. A combination of Drupal CCK fields and custom PHP scripts allows users to fill in the annual reports of their respective organization—and that of the RCABM network itself—and then export the data in XML (more specifically, in the OpenOffice-compatible, printer-friendly .odt format).
As of the CiviCRM management system, we configured it as a monitoring tool which helps RCABM keep track of all its volunteers' work. Activity reports are generated in the .csv format (comma separated values), and can thus be imported in Excel or Calc spreadsheets.
Let's also mention that Koumbit currently hosts RCABM's own virtual server.
