Full-day Drupal 8 code sprint at Koumbit's office in Montreal: January 18th, 2013

Drupal core's "Feature Completion" deadline (February 18, 2013) is fast approaching, and right now there are about 75 open critical bugs and the same number of open critical and major bugs with status "needs review". In other words, there's a mountain of work left to do and we need to step up as (local) community to do whatever we can to help get D8 closer to the finish line.

With this goal in mind, Koumbit has decided to dedicate its entire team for a full day Drupal 8 code sprint and we are inviting all other local Drupal users to show up at our office to contribute to this effort.

If you are like us, you've barely had time to play around with D8, much less get your hands dirty under the hood. This is your chance to get a head start on all the others and, more importantly, to contribute in a meaningful sense to the advancement of the platform that we have all come to love so much.

There are lots of ways to contribute by helping with tests, documentation, programming, among other tasks. For a detailed description of the work left to do, see http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/drupal-core

We organized a similar code sprint in February 2010 to work on Drupal 7, which saw 10 Koumbit workers plus other 20 Drupal professionals spend an entire day helping push that release towards the finish line. We hope to see a similar turnout this time! Bring your laptop; we'll supply the wifi and the pizza.
